A sump pump failure during heavy rains proved disastrous for a local church. The sump pumps failed to keep up with the amount of rainwater pouring in and this was the result.

Sewage Mitigation

The above photo is a post mitigation image of a bathroom after it suffered damage from a heavy rain storm. During the storm, water from the sewer line overflowed the toilet. The category 3 water caused damage not only to the bathroom, but also the recreational room, laundry room, and storage area.

Water from sewer system backups should be considered very dangerous. The water is grossly unsanitary and may contain bacteria and viruses that could cause serious illness. Special training and equipment is necessary to safely clean this type of contamination. Click here to read more about sewage cleanup and restoration.

Sewage Damage

When the Arnold area was hit by a heavy rainstorm, a home had a sewage backup. Our team arrived after the sewer line was cleared. Even though the homeowner had lots of heavy furniture in the area, our team was able to provide the cleaning and sanitizing necessary.

The sewage backup is grossly unsanitary and could cause severe illness or death if ingested, and any contact should be avoided. Sources for category 3 water could include flooding from rivers or streams, water from beyond the toilet trap, water from the toilet bowl with feces, or standing water that has begun to support microbial growth.

  • May contain untreated sewage, harsh chemicals, and microbes
  • Water from flooding rivers or sewer backup
